Our History & Purpose

Our History

The Journey Baptist Church has a long and rich heritage spanning several decades, founded and operating under the name, First Baptist Church the vast majority of those years. In 2010 The Journey Baptist Church began as a church plant to the East Valley and in 2011, merged back together with our sending church family, keeping the new name. With a new name, new pastor and a renewed vision and direction, we hope to connect with the community around us. So wherever you are on life's journey, we stand ready to help you along. If you are just starting out, we want to take those first steps with you. If you've been traveling for quite some time, we'd like to travel with you the rest of the way. Our heart is to help people discover and develop the gifts God has given them through the clear teaching of God's Word. We sure hope you'll come and enjoy a service with us in the near future.

Our Purpose

We believe our purpose is the Great Commission given by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

1) To generate passion for the lost through the clear communication of God's Word and how it applies to daily life.

2) To equip God's people through good friendships, opportunities and ministries, to live life as He has directed.

3) To encourage all believers to actively participate in reaching our families, neighbors, co-workers, and friends with the saving message of Jesus.

We can accomplish these purposes when and if we know and have the courage to share the saving message of salvation through Christ at every opportunity, clearly investing the teachings of Jesus and how it applies to life in every believer, and offering opportunities to fulfill our God given mandate to reach the world. In Revelation 3:7-13, Jesus reveals to the church at Philadelphia that it was their passion to reach lost souls, their daily life that reflected Christ's desire and a refusal to fall into the traps of sin all around them that caused them to be the church that Jesus wanted them to be.
